Brazing

Brazing Selection Requirements Involve Multiple Considerations

Appropriate brazing materials selection is based a combination of these factors:

  • Temperature - What temperatures will the seal experience during testing. Installation and final operating conditions?
  • Atmosphere - Some brazing under certain atmosphere conditions can cause unreliable ceramic-to-metal joints.
  • Compatibility - Is the brazing material compatible with the metal components in the seal?
  • Cost - Consider the actual need of the application before specifying costly pure gold or silver brazing materials, if one of the less expensive alloys will work as well.
